Newcastle discussing defender loan deal with Tottenham

Newcastle are in talks with Tottenham over extending Danny Rose's loan deal until the end of the domestic season, reports Sky Sports.

Rose moved to the Magpies in January until the end of 2019/20, but that has since been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Project Restart has been gaining momentum, however, and the Premier League is set to resume on June 17th.

With the remainder of the campaign set to be played out through the summer, that coincides with Rose's deal at Newcastle expiring.

Newcastle don't have an option to make his move permanent in the off-season, but Rose is keen to extend his stay at St. James' Park.

Talks are ongoing about Rose remaining with Steve Bruce's side until the end of the rescheduled season, which would be a move to benefit all parties.

29-year-old Rose has just one year left to run on his current deal at Tottenham and having struggled to break into the starting XI on the back of Jose Mourinho's appointment, he is expected to leave the club before too long.

Rose has made four league starts for Newcastle following his January switch and has garnered a WhoScored rating of 6.29 for the Magpies.
