Ozil tells Arsenal teammates which Premier League club he will join
Mesut Ozil has told his Arsenal teammates he will join Manchester United at the end of the season, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Germany international’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and Arsenal are now actively looking to sell the 28-year-old after failing to agree new terms with their No.11.
Reports emerged earlier in the season suggesting Jose Mourinho wanted to reunite with Ozil at Old Trafford and now the Arsenal midfielder has moved a step closer to joining United.
However, Arsenal would prefer to cash in on Ozil in January rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season, but it remains to be seen whether United would be willing to do business at the start of next year.
Mourinho developed a strong relationship with Ozil during their time at Real Madrid and is keen on bringing the German to United to bolster the squad’s offensive options.
Ozil has fallen out of favour at Arsenal this season, starting four of their opening eight league matches.
Despite the idea that the Gunners are better off without Ozil, Arsenal actually have a significantly worse win ratio in the Premier League without the German in the starting XI since the start of last season (30%) compared to when he has featured from the off (66.7%).
