Sunderland manager David Moyes is the only boss left from the bottom six sides in the Premier League that started the season but his run may not go on for much longer after only managing a goalless draw at home to Burnley on Saturday, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The Black Cats are still rock bottom of the Premier League and seven points adrift of safety and the return of the club’s owner, Ellis Short, has suddenly raised doubts over Moyes’ future until the end of the season.
Leicester, Crystal Palace, Swansea, Hull and now Middlesbrough have all gambled on new managers this season and all have benefitted in one shape or form, with Boro also looking to kickstart their season after sacking Aitor Karanka at the end of last week.
Sunderland’s owner watched on with his wife, who appeared to fall asleep at one stage, as his side could only manage a draw against a Burnley side that are still looking for their first win away from home in the league this season. It was the first game he has attended since August and his presence was not anticipated.
Moyes’ side have already avoided the embarrassment of finishing with fewer points than Aston Villa (17) last season, but they could still finish with the second lowest points total in the last seven years.
