Germany international fuels Liverpool transfer talk

Jonas Hector insists he is content with life at Koln but concedes Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could change his mind.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of Bundesliga players since Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in October and are expected to raid Germany’s top-flight in the summer when wholesale changes are expected to the squad.

Hector, 25, is the latest to be linked with a move to Anfield and the left-back has revealed an approach from Klopp could prove decisive in prizing him away from Koln.

“You always have to consider whether you are ready to take the next step. But at the moment I am not thinking about it,” Hector told Eurosport, via The Daily Mirror.

“I think what we have to do at FC Koln is enough. I also have with the national team a big tournament ahead of us.”

However, when quizzed whether an approach from Klopp would change his mind, he added: “Then I would start to think about it.”

The 25-year-old still has two years remaining on his current deal and is valued at around £12m by the German club.

Hector has created at least eight more key passes than any other defender in the Bundesliga this season (42), which would rank him second at Liverpool this season.
