Giaccherini’s agent talks up Chelsea switch

Emmanuele Giaccherini’s agent has revealed two Serie A clubs are chasing his signature but he is also open to follow Antonio Conte to Chelsea this summer.

Giaccherini, 31, is still contracted to Sunderland but failed to have any impact during his two seasons at the club before spending last season on loan at Bologna.

The Italy international is currently playing a starring role for Conte’s national team at Euro 2016 and there have been suggestions the incoming Chelsea manager will look to bring the versatile midfielder to Stamford Bridge with him after the tournament.

Chelsea will face competition from Torino and Fiorentina for his signature but Giaccherini’s agent has left the door open to a return to the Premier League this summer.

“There’s Torino and Bologna, but also some teams abroad,” Furio Valcareggi told Lady Radio, via Football Italia.

“We’re available to [Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo] Corvino, but he hasn’t called me yet. I’d like to see him here, no doubt, but there are other situations in play now.

“This is probably the high point of Giaccherini’s career. If Conte calls then we’ll fly to Chelsea.”

Giaccherini has played a direct hand in half of Italy’s four goals at Euro 2016 this summer (one goal, one assist) and is Conte’s third highest rated player at the tournament (7.28).
