West Ham have signed midfielder Alex Song on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona, the club’s co-chairman David Gold has announced.
Song, 27, also spent last season at Upton Park and had been expected to make the move permanent this summer, but Slaven Bilic’s side have opted for another temporary move this season, with an option for a further year.
“It has just been confirmed. Alex Song has signed a season long loan deal to join West Ham. Welcome back Alex,” read a message on David Gold’s official Twitter account.
The former Arsenal midfielder enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Premier League this season, despite tailing off towards the end. In fact, no one played more accurate through balls in the Premier League last season for West Ham than Song (7).
