Schalke’s sporting director Horst Heldt insists Julian Draxler is not for sale this summer after rejecting an offer from Juventus.
Draxler, 21, has been linked with a move to a number of high-profile European clubs over the past two years and appeared to be on the verge of signing for the Serie A champions as a replacement for the Bayern Munich-bound Arturo Vidal.
It was reported yesterday by a number of newspapers that Juventus had an opening bid of £15.5m rejected, but already appear to have fallen short in their attempts after Heldt dismissed claims the German midfielder was on the move this summer.
“We’ve received an offer from Juventus today, but have rejected it and request the club do not contact us again,” Heldt told Schalke TV.
“Draxler is not for sale.”
The Germany international was unable to build on a stunning 2013/14 campaign that saw him finish the season as Schalke’s second highest WhoScored rated player (7.69) behind Jefferson Farfán (7.70) in the Bundesliga.
Injuries restricted Draxler to just eight starts in the league last season, but he still managed to chip in with two goals and an assist during that time.
