Higuain free to join Chelsea after Milan reach agreement his replacement

AC Milan have reached a total agreement with Genoa to sign Krzysztof Piatek in a deal worth €35m (£30.9m) plus add-ons, reports The Guardian.

Piatek will put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Milan and replace Gonzalo Higuain, who is now free to complete his move to Chelsea.

Genoa and Milan play against each other on Monday night but Piatek is not expected to feature for his new club, while Gennaro Gattuso has already ruled Higuain out for the Rossoneri.

West Ham enquired about Piatek’s availability this month but the Hammers have now missed out on the Poland international, dubbed the next Robert Lewandowski.

Genoa only paid a reported €4m fee to sign Piatek in the summer and have now made a staggering profit on the 23-year-old in just six months.

Piatek has been a revelation in Serie A this season and his impending arrival at Milan does not bode well for the future of Patrick Cutrone.

Only Duvan Zapata and Cristiano Ronaldo (both 14) have scored more goals than Piatek in Serie A this season.
