United make improved bid for Bundesliga’s highest rated star

Manchester United have made an improved £28m bid for Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to The Daily Mirror.

Mkhitaryan, 28, has been heavily linked with a move to United this month after revealing it was his dream move.

The Armenia international has 12 months remaining on his existing deal at Dortmund and has no intention of renewing beyond the end of next season.

United’s initial bid of £19.3m was rejected last week with Dortmund determined to get the full £31m they have demanded and Jose Mourinho’s side have returned with an improved bid they hope will be enough to land the wideman.

Mkhitaryan finished last season as the highest rated player in the Bundesliga (7.90) after only four players registered more assists across Europe’s top five leagues (15).
