Serie A star and ex-Chelsea target suffers injury blow

Torino have announced star striker Andrea Belotti will miss the next four weeks through injury after suffering knee ligament damage.

Belotti was stretchered off in the final 10 minutes of Torino’s 2-2 draw with Verona at the weekend leading to fears he would be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Torino have since confirmed that Belotti has damaged ligaments in his right knee and will be ruled out for a month, forcing his withdrawal from the Italy squad.

The Azzurri are due to play Macedonia and Albania in their last two World Cup qualifiers over the next two weeks and Belotti would have been a guaranteed starter in both matches.

Belotti was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea over the summer but neither were willing to match his €100m (£88.7m) release clause.

The 23-year-old has scored three goals in seven Serie A appearances so far this season after netting 26 times in 35 league matches last term.
