Aston Villa have completed the signing of former Norwich and Blackburn keeper Mark Bunn on a free transfer in a move that will pave the way for the departure of Shay Given.
Tim Sherwood is still thought to be on the lookout for a new first choice shot stopper, with Bunn only likely to be a back-up having not started a single league game since the 2012/13 season.
The Villa manager demoted Brad Guzan to the bench at the end of last season, while the club are keen to offload Shay Given due to his lofty wages.
Last night Stoke jumped to the front of the queue for the latter after it seemed the Irishman was set for a return to Middlesbrough having made 16 league appearances on loan for the club in the 2013/14 season.
The Potters are keen to sign another keeper to put pressure on Jack Butland, with Asmir Begovic still expected to leave the club, with interest from Chelsea and United, as well as Villa.
