Tottenham boss readying double January swoop to bolster squad

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is readying January moves to Everton man Ross Barkley and out of favour Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, reports the Sunday Express.

Barkley was heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the summer, though the north London side could face competition for his signature from Chelsea who failed with a deadline day swoop for the England international.

The Toffees man is recovering surgery after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier in the year, but is widely expected to leave Goodison Park next month with Everton prepared to entertain offers for the 24-year-old rather than lose him on a free at the end of the season.

Shaw, meanwhile, has struggled for first term action since his big money move to United in 2014 and the club are prepared to let him leave in January provided a replacement can be signed.

Danny Rose has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a successor to Shaw, while teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon is another rumoured target for the Europa League winners.

Spurs, however, have also been targetting Fulham teenager Sessegnon for some time now and failed to sign the left-back over the summer, with the 17-year-old instead penning a new deal at Craven Cottage.
