Spurs open talks with Fiorentina for top rated player

Tottenham have entered talks with Fiorentina over a possible deal for Milan Badelj in the summer, according to Calciomercato.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are hoping to talk advantage of their Europa League tie with Fiorentina to accelerate talks, with Badelj reportedly keen on making the switch to White Hart Lane.

Badelj, 26, is suggested to be unhappy with his situation at Fiorentina and feels the salary he received when he joined from Hamburg in 2014 does not reflect his worth to the team.

The Croatia international still has more than two years remaining on his current deal and Spurs may be forced to cough up a sizeable fee to capture the defensive midfielder.

No Fiorentina player has garnered a higher WhoScored rating in the league this season than Badelj (7.32).
