Out of favour Arsenal forward returns to Real Betis

 

Joel Campbell has moved to La Liga side Real Betis on loan for the 2017/18 season, Arsenal have announced. 

 

This will be the sixth loan spell the Costa Rican has spent away from Arsenal following his permanent arrival in 2011 and second at Real Betis. 

 

“Joel Campbell will rejoin La Liga side Real Betis on loan for the coming season,” a statement read on the club’s official website. 

 

“The Costa Rica international enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Spanish club in 2012/13, making 28 appearances and scoring two goals. 

 

“Joel spent the 2016/17 season on loan with Portuguese Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon where he made 18 appearances and scored three goals. 

 

“To date Joel has made a total of 40 first-team appearances for Arsenal, scoring four times. 

 

“We would like to wish Joel well for his time in Spain.”
