Barcelona are ready to beat their European rivals to Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic, claims The Guardian.
Jovic has emerged as one of the most sought after strikers on the continent this season following his roaring success with German side Frankfurt.
The 21-year-old is on loan from Benfica but Frankfurt have wisely already wrapped up a deal to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
Frankfurt know they will not be able to keep Jovic for next season but still expect to command in the region of £52m.
Barcelona are on the market for Luis Suarez’s long-term successor and have earmarked Jovic as their top transfer target.
The Spanish giants are expected to start talks with Frankfurt in the coming weeks and will reportedly open their bidding at £43m for the Serbia international.
Only three players have been directly involved in more Bundesliga goals than Jovic this season (20), while only Kylian Mbappe (26) has scored more goals than Jovic (15) of players aged 21 and under in Europe’s top five leagues.
