United ready bid for Madrid defender

Manchester United are prepared to offer Real Madrid €32m (£25m) for central defender Raphael Varane, according to The Daily Mirror, via Football Espana.

The Red Devils have previously been link with a move for the France international in the past and they are reportedly interested in rekindling their interest in the summer.

Varane, 23, has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular for Madrid this season, but he is widely expected to be Pepe’s long-term successor in the imminent future.

However, that hasn’t deterred United, who are looking to sign an out-an-out central defender to partner Chris Smalling at the heart of their defence next season.

Of Madrid players to have started at least five matches in the Champions League this summer, only Toni Kroos (94.7%) has a higher pass success rate than Varane (91.7%).
