Atletico Madrid will look to use the money made from Jackson Martinez’s £31m departure to re-sign Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Diego Simeone’s side will need to sign a new striker in the summer after losing Martinez to Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande on Wednesday.
Costa, 27, only made the switch from Atletico to Chelsea 18 months ago but is reportedly unsettled at Stamford Bridge and open to a return to the Spanish capital.
The Brazilian-born Spain international fired Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season at the club but returned, by his own admission, to pre-season overweight and it has taken him until now to find his feet.
In his last season at Atletico, only Cristiano Ronaldo (31) scored more league goals than Costa in Spain (27).
