Giovinco finishes as MLS Player of the Season

Sebastian Giovinco has finished the Major League Soccer regular season as WhoScored’s highest rated player for the second season in a row.

Giovinco, 29, has been in sensational form for Toronto since joining from Juventus in 2015 and taken it by storm.

The former Italy international has scored 39 goals in 62 MLS appearances in his two years and his form in front of goal has helped secure Toronto their passage into the play-offs for the second year in succession.

Giovinco finishes as MLS Player of the Season

Giovinco finished the regular season having played a direct hand in 31 goals in 28 appearances and gained more WhoScored Man of the Match awards than any other player (10). Not only that, but he attempted at least nine more shots than any other player (177).

Despite his form in front of goal, it was not enough to secure Toronto’s place in the final series after missing out on the top two to both New York sides. Giovinco’s side will instead have to go through the play-offs before getting there.
