Paris Saint-Germain striker set for shock Middlesbrough move

Middlesbrough are on the verge of signing Paris Saint-Germain outcast Jese on loan for the remainder of the season, reports L’Equipe, via Get French Football.

Jese only joined Unai Emery’s side at the start of the season but has made no impression in France and is free to leave the Ligue 1 champions this month following the arrival of Goncalo Guedes from Benfica.

The 23-year-old had been heavily linked with a return to Spain with a move to Las Palmas mooted but the La Liga outfit could not come to an agreement with PSG on the structure of the loan deal and how much of Jese’s salary they would pay.

However, the former Spain Under-21 international now appears on the verge of joining Middlesbrough, where he would reunite with Aitor Karanka following their time together at Real Madrid.

Boro's move for the forward perhaps comes as a surprise given they have already spent heavily on Patrick Bamford and Rudy Gestede, but Jese's arrival would certainly be an upgrade on both of those options.

Jese has only scored one goal this season for PSG in his 13 appearances but hasn’t featured for Emery’s side since the start of December when he was given five minutes towards the end of their 2-2 draw with Ludogorets Razgrad.
