Nacho Monreal is close to sealing a move back to Spain, with Athletic Club set to pay a fee in the region of €10m for the left-back's services.
The news comes as something of a surprise given that Monreal established himself as Arsenal's first choice left-back ahead of Kieran Gibbs last season, enjoying his best campaign in a Gunners shirt by a distance to secure a rating of 7.33 from WhoScored.com.
The 29-year old started 26 league games for the club last season having started just 24 across his first two seasons in North London, with only three players amassing more playing time for Arsenal in the league last season (2311 minutes).
Any sale would leave Wenger with just one left-back so links to Napoli's Faouzi Ghoulam as a replacement come as little shock.
No way this is happening.
