Leicester star extends King Power Stadium stay

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has put pen to paper on a new six-year deal, the club has announced.

The Nigerian midfielder has been a revelation in the middle of the park following his arrival from Genk last year, making more tackles (143) than any other player since the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season.

“Leicester City Football Club is delighted to confirm that Wilfred Ndidi has signed a new contract, keeping him at King Power Stadium until June 2024,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“In the 18 months since his arrival from Belgian side Genk, the 21-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents as well as a key member of Leicester City’s first team squad.

“The Nigeria international, who represented his country at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, has played over 60 times for the Foxes and has been named the Club’s Young Player of the Year in each of the last two campaigns.

“A tough tackling and combative midfielder, Ndidi’s quality on and off the ball has quickly made him an integral part of Leicester City’s team and with his long-term future now secure, Foxes fans can look forward to watching him develop even further with the Football Club.”
