Dzeko not joining Roma, claims agent

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko will not be joining Serie A side Roma this summer, according to the player’s agent.

Dzeko, 29, has been linked with a move away from City ever since Wilfried Bony’s arrival in January and was restricted to just 12 Premier League starts last season.

The Bosnian international's compatriot Miralem Pjanić claimed Dzeko would go “running” to Roma, with Italian press claiming a deal would also see forward Adem Ljajic go the other way.

However that is not the case according to Dzeko’s agent: “I was frankly surprised by Pjanić’s comments, unless he knows something that I don’t,” he told Italian radio station Rete Sport. “It’s not a financial issue, he simply doesn’t want to leave the Citizens.”

Following a move from Wolfsburg for £27m in January 2011, in the last four league campaigns, of all players to have netted at least 30 Premier League goals only teammate Sergio Agüero has scored at a quicker rate than Dzeko (every 129.9 mins).
