Talks over Hazard between Chelsea and Real Madrid collapse

Transfer talks between Real Madrid and Chelsea for the transfer of Eden Hazard have collapsed, claims the London Evening Standard.

Hazard has entered the final 12 months of his current Chelsea deal and has confirmed he wants to join Madrid this summer.

Despite the fact Chelsea could lose Hazard for nothing at the end of next season, the Premier League outfit are standing firm with their valuation of the Belgian.

Chelsea are demanding in excess of £100m for Hazard and Madrid are yet to agree a fee with their English counterparts.

Madrid chief executive Jose Angel Sanchez jetted in to London for face-to-face talks with Chelsea but is understood to have already returned to Spain after failing to make a breakthrough in negotiations.

Hazard wanted his future sorted before joining up with the Belgium national team and news of a breakdown in talks will come as a concern to the 28-year-old.

Nevertheless, Madrid are still expected to prise Hazard away from Stamford Bridge, though it appears no swift resolution is in sight unless Zinedine Zidane’s side increase their offer.

Hazard finished the 2018/19 campaign as the highest WhoScored rated player in the Premier League (7.81) and played a direct hand in the most goals (31).
