David de Gea has rejected Manchester United’s final contract offer, claims The Sun.
De Gea only has 12 months left to run on his existing United contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
United are willing to make De Gea the best-paid goalkeeper in the world but will not match his £350,000-a-week wage demands.
The Spain international has now rejected United’s last and best offer to pile the pressure on the club’s decision makers this summer.
PSG are willing to match De Gea’s wage demands and will reportedly test United’s resolve this summer if Gianluigi Buffon retires.
This is the last opportunity United will have to command a decent fee for De Gea before he leaves on a free next summer.
PSG will reportedly bid £60m for the 28-year-old if Buffon decides to call it a day this summer.
De Gea has just endured his worst ever season as a United player, eclipsing his troubles during his first 12 months at the club.
United finished the season with their worst defensive record in a Premier League campaign (54 goals conceded).
Added to that, De Gea only kept seven clean sheets in the league, 14 shy of Alisson, who won the Premier League Golden Glove award.
