Former Arsenal striker back on radar of MLS sides

Major League Soccer has former Arsenal striker and Real Sociedad forward Carlos Vela back in their sights, reports ESPN.

Vela, 28, has previously been linked with a move to MLS and talks have reportedly taken place with Sociedad about a potential move in the future, although there is still a long way to go.

Sociedad’s $10m (£7.74m) asking price will reportedly prove problematic for MLS franchises although they could end up waiting until Vela’s current deal expires in 2018 before making their move.

This would line up perfectly for new MLS side Los Angeles Football Club, who will make their debut season in 2018, although they face competition for Vela’s signature from crosstown rivals LA Galaxy.

Vela has been at Sociedad since 2011 and been a mainstay of their offensive line in that time after spending the majority of his seven-year spell with Arsenal out on various loan spells.

In the time he has spent at Sociedad, Vela has scored more goals than any other teammate in La Liga (63).
