Juventus eye sensational swoop for Manchester United star
Juventus are interested in re-signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United two years are selling the midfield star back to the Premier League giants, claims The Daily Mirror.
Despite forking out £90m to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid earlier this summer, Juventus aren’t looking to reign in their spending and want Pogba back at the club.
Juventus have already told Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, about their desire to re-sign the 2018 World Cup champion and are really to sell off some star names to fund a deal.
Gonzalo Higuain, Daniele Rugani, Mattia Caldara and Miralem Pjanic are all free to leave Juventus this summer and the Old Lady believe their departures would raise around £200m.
Max Allegri’s side have won seven league titles in a row but have struggled to take the final step in conquering Europe during that period and hope Ronaldo can carry them over the line.
However, Juventus are keen to bring Pogba back to Italy if United can be persuaded to sell and further reinforce their status as a powerhouse in European football.
Pogba has endured a turbulent 12 months under United head coach Jose Mourinho and there were rumours of a sensational exit towards the end of last season.
It’s unlikely United will entertain the idea of selling their star midfielder with less than two weeks left in the transfer window for English sides, but Juventus will continue to monitor his future at Old Trafford.
United re-signed Pogba from Juventus in a stunning £89m deal in 2016 but the Frenchman's performances have divided opinion among supporters during that time.
The 25-year-old is currently enjoying some time off in America after playing an integral part in France’s triumph at the World Cup earlier this summer.
Pogba finished France’s World Cup final victory over Croatia as the WhoScored Man of the Match after scoring in the 4-2 rout (8.41 rating).
Furthermore, only two players won possession in the defensive third more times than Pogba at the 2018 World Cup (24).
