Gabriel Jesus’ new £150,000-a-week Manchester City deal will be announced in the next few weeks, reports Goal.com.
The Brazil international only joined City at the start of the year but the 20-year-old has been a revelation for Pep Guardiola’s side.
City have moved to secure Jesus’ long-term future before the 2018 World Cup and have agreed to more than double his current salary.
Guardiola’s side expect Jesus’ reputation to grow in Russia next summer and have now put themselves in a strong position if any of Europe’s big clubs come sniffing for his signature.
Having already convinced David Silva to put pen to paper on a new contract extension, City are also on the verge of securing Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term future as Guardiola’s side plan for global domination.
Jesus has played a direct hand in 19 goals in 19 Premier League starts since joining City from Palmeiras in January, although his form has dipped in recent weeks.
The City striker is now without a goal in his last 500 minutes of competitive football. Despite that, he has still played a direct hand in 10 goals (eight goals, two assists) in 16 Premier League appearances this season.
