Bristol City have had an initial £6m bid for Dwight Gayle accepted by Crystal Palace, according to Sky Sports News.
Gayle, 24, joined Palace for £4.5m from Peterborough in 2013 but has struggled to nail down a starting berth and has seen first team opportunities even harder to come by since Alan Pardew was made manager in January.
The Palace manager revealed last week he was prepared to listen to offers for Gayle and the deal with City could eventually rise to £8m with incentives.
Gayle has only made 19 starts in the Premier League with a further 29 appearances coming from the bench for the Eagles. Since making his debut in the 2013/14 campaign, only three other players have scored more goals coming from the bench in the Premier League than Gayle (4).
