Napoli forward Jose Callejon could have left the San Paolo this summer after receiving “a lot of offers”, according to his agent.
Callejon, 28, joined Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013 and had courted interest from Atletico Madrid during the summer.
However, the Spain international rejected advances from other clubs during the summer after becoming invested in the project currently at Napoli.
“Jose had a lot of offers, but a talk with the coach, [Maurizio Sarri] in the summer was decisive,” agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Sarri’s project enchanted him immediately, and that’s showing in his performances. Callejon has no plans to leave, and wants to have a great year in a blue shirt.”
Callejon has failed to nail down a regular starting berth in the league this season, but has chosen the Europa League to make his impact, having played a direct hand in four goals (2 goals + 2 assists) in just two starts thus far.
