Wolves head coach Nuno Santos is weighing up Everton’s offer to become their new full-time manager, reports The Guardian.
Everton sacked Ronald Koeman at the start of last week and want to have his successor announced during the upcoming international break.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche and former England boss Sam Allardyce were thought to be the frontrunners for the position, but it has now emerged the Merseyside outfit have approached Nuno.
The 43-year-old was only appointed Wolves manager and the end of last season and is confident of securing promotion to the Premier League, which may work against Everton.
Jorge Mendes’ role in his decision should also not be understated given his close connection to Wolves. Nuno was Mendes’ first client and his decision to swap the Molineux for Goodison Park is not necessarily a straightforward one.
A decision will be made imminently, but Everton expect interim boss David Unsworth will oversee first-team affairs for matches against Lyon and Watford in the build up to the international break.
Wolves, who made a number of eye-catching signings during the summer, are currently one point clear of Cardiff at the top of the Championship after winning 10 of their opening 15 matches.
