Barca president dismiss Neymar exit talk

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists club-record signing Neymar is going nowhere amid speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.

Reports have emerged suggesting United are lining up a world record £240m bid for the Brazil international as Louis van Gaal continues to look for the missing player that would transform his team into genuine title contenders.

However, Bartomeu has rubbished these claims after revealing the club plan to offer the 23-year-old a new contract.

“These are just rumours and what people write but there is nothing to it,” Bartomeu told Catalunya Radio.

Neymar is happy at Barca. We don’t want Neymar to leave at all.

“He is a young player that has an international football projection above the norm. He has helped us a lot in our recent success.

“In a few months’ time we will discuss his contract extension as he has three years left on his current deal. We want him to stay for many years, three, five, 10 or even 15 years more with us.”

Since joining Barcelona from Santos for more than £58m in 2013, only four players have had a direct hand in more of their team's goals than Neymar (46).
