Aston Villa are linked with a host of players as they plan to spend the money they are expected to receive from a potential sale of Christian Benteke to Liverpool to strengthen the squad, with Malaga midfielder Sergi Darder now emerging as a target.
The young Spaniard has reportedly attracted interest from across Europe, including the likes of Porto, Inter Milan and Roma, but Tim Sherwood is thought to be keen to vie for the midfielder's signature.
Darder has already made 63 league appearances for Malaga, at the age of just 21, and would add to the midfield ranks at Villa already bolstered by the arrival of Idrissa Gueye.
A combative presence in the middle of the park, Darder has a powerful shot to his armoury, firing off 45 efforts from distance in 2014/15, but does find himself in toruble with referees given his blood and thunder approach to tackling, amassing 10 yellows and a red in La Liga last season.
