Liverpool handed lofty wage demands by key man Salah

Mohamed Salah is demanding £500,000-a-week to convince him to stay at Liverpool, reports the Sunday Mirror.

The Egyptian has made a superb start to the season, scoring two and providing two assists in his three outings with a WhoScored rating of 7.92 enough to make the Premier League team of the month.

Salah is already one of the highest earners at Anfield, but has just two years left to run on his current deal at the club.

French giants PSG and La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old and Liverpool are keen to ward off interest in their prized asset.

However, it's been reported that Salah wants around half-a-million a week to extend his stay on Merseyside.

Liverpool have focussed their efforts this summer on tying down their star players to new contracts, with Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Andrew Robertson and Jordan Henderson all putting pen to paper on new deals in recent months.

It means that the Reds have opted against spending big in the market, with the £36m capture of Ibrahima Konate the only high profile addition to the squad.

Liverpool are hoping Salah is the next to sign a new contract at Anfield, but the forward will have to lower his demands for that to come to fruition.
