Crystal Palace confident of landing new goalkeeper

Crystal Palace are confident of signing experienced Espanyol goalkeeper Diego Lopez next month, reports the Daily Mirror.

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson has alternated between Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni as his number one shotstopper since succeeding Frank de Boer at Selhurst Park.

However, the former England manager believes his side needs investment between the sticks and has identified Lopez as a potential January arrival.

The 36-year-old made 35 starts for the La Liga side last season, but has lost his place in the side to youngster Pau Lopez.

Having yet featured for Espanyol this term, Palace are confident a deal can be struck that would see the former Real Madrid and AC Milan goalkeeper move to the capital at the turn of the year.

While the Eagles have performed well since 70-year-old took over the reins in south London, Palace have still shipped 20 goals in 12 games, with Hodgson hoping Lopez’s arrival will help solidify the defence.
