Chelsea set asking price for Real Madrid target Hazard

Chelsea will demand £100m for Eden Hazard in the summer despite the fact he will only have 12 months left to run on his current deal, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are desperate to secure Hazard’s long-term future but the Belgium international won’t make a decision until the summer amid interest from Real Madrid.

The European champions were heavily linked with a move for Hazard last summer after identifying the 28-year-old as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Madrid baulked at Chelsea’s £200m asking price but remain interested in the Premier League star and Hazard is waiting to see whether they rekindle their pursuit at the end of the season.

Despite the fact Chelsea could lose Hazard on a free in the summer of 2020, they will not let their star man go for cheap at the end of the season if they are forced to cash-in and still demand £100m for his signature.

Hazard is arguably one of the best players in the world but it remains to be seen whether Madrid would entertain those figures with only one-year remaining on his contract.

Hazard is one of just two players in Europe’s top five leagues this season that has scored and assisted at least 10 goals. Barcelona’s Lionel Messi was the first to reach the feat earlier in the campaign.

Furthermore, the Chelsea star has both completed the most dribbles (62) and won the most fouls (66) in the Premier League this season. He is also the highest WhoScored rated player in England’s top-tier this term (7.84).
