Barcelona have confirmed Lionel Messi has suffered a hamstring injury.
Messi, 29, has made a blistering start to the season but has been told to reduce his workload over the coming days to manage his knock.
The Argentina international will be assessed in the coming days but is unlikely to take any part in their league match against Alaves on Saturday and is a doubt for their first Champions League fixture against Celtic next week.
Messi has been named the WhoScored man of the match in three of Barcelona’s four competitive games this season and has played a direct hand in six of their 10 goals (three goals, three assists).
