Atletico Madrid interested in stunning move for West Ham youngster

Atletico Madrid have emerged as suitors of West Ham teenager Reece Oxford, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Oxford is currently on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach after returning to the Bundesliga side at the end of the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is widely thought of one of the top English talents despite the fact he has struggled to break into the West Ham first team since making his debut back in August 2015.

Oxford was 16 when he started against Arsenal and his impressive performance against the Gunners even landed him on the radar of Manchester United.

However, the England U20 international eventually signed a contract with West Ham in December 2016 but is now courting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Gladbach had an £8m bid for Oxford rejected in January before eventually succeeding in their attempts to get him back on loan for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, Atletico will continue to monitor his development in Germany with a view to making a stunning play for his services in the summer.

Oxford has only started three Bundesliga games this season, recording a less than impressive WhoScored rating of 5.91 in Gladbach’s 1-0 defeat to Dortmund last weekend.
