Everton confirm deal in principle for £27m striker

Sam Allardyce has confirmed Everton have agreed a deal in principle for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun.

Everton have reportedly agreed to shell out in the region of £27m for the Turkey international as they finally look to land a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Toffees are now in the process of thrashing out personal terms with Tosun and Allardyce is even hopeful of including the striker in his matchday squad for Friday’s Merseyside Derby.

“We’ve agreed a deal and are at the stage of personal terms,” Allardyce told a new conference. Hopefully, we might be able to get him registered in time to play in the cup [on Friday].”

Allardyce only hinted on Monday that a deal for Tosun was on the brink of collapsing after Besiktas decided to increase their valuation but the Everton boss is now on the verge of getting his man.

Tosun, who has previously been linked with Crystal Palace, flourished during the Champions League group stages, netting four goals in six games for Besiktas.

It’s worth investing in Tosun on Football INDEX, as his value is likely to rocket in the coming days. Everton have lacked a goalscoring striker this season and Tosun could prove the man the Merseysiders have been crying out for since Lukaku left.
