Chelsea eye World Cup managers to replace Conte

Chelsea are sounding out cheaper alternatives to replace Antonio Conte as manager this summer, reports Yahoo Sport.

Conte is widely expected to leave his post at Chelsea but the Blues face forking out a hefty compensation bill to get rid of the Italian.

Chelsea’s first choice target is Maurizio Sarri but the west London outfit are struggling to reach an agreement with Napoli.

The Serie A giants have already lined up former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti to replace Sarri but have no interest losing the Italian on the cheap.

Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has been mooted as a possible alternative, but now Chelsea are considering Brazil head coach Tite and Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli.

Both managers are currently gearing up for the 2018 World Cup but their futures after this summer’s tournament are far from certain.

Sampaoli has developed a solid reputation as a manager for his work as head coach of Chile and will now hope to win Argentina the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

Tite, meanwhile, has done a remarkable job changing Brazil’s fortunes and steering them on a path towards World Cup glory.

Brazil topped their competitive World Cup qualification group by 10 points are among the pre-tournament favourites for the trophy in Russia this summer.

The 57-year-old led Corinthians to the Brazilian league title in 2015 and even beat Chelsea in the final of the World Club Cup in 2012.

Since taking over as Brazil manager in 2016, Tite has only lost one of the 21 matches he has overseen, winning 17 of those.
