Liverpool ready to offer €50m in pursuit of wing wizard

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Liverpool will raise their offer to Sporting for winger Gelson Martins.

The Reds have been in pursuit of the Portugal international for some time and are believed to have had a bid in the region of 40-45 million euros rejected for the 22-year-old.

Wide options appear to be Jurgen Klopp's priority this summer, with the absence of Sadio Mane leaving the squad exposed at times last season, with a potential deal for Mohamed Salah not thought to negate the club's interest in Martins.

The youngster is with his national side at the Confederations Cup at present but Liverpool are still hoping to reach an agreement with his club in the meantime and are thought to be willing to raise their offer to €50m.

Having ended the previous Liga NOS campaign as Sporting's second highest rated player (7.31) to top scorer Bas Dost, he has attracted interest from some of Europe's top teams.
