Tottenham star undergoes surgery

Tottenham have confirmed that Eric Dier will be ruled out until the New Year after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.

The 24-year-old wasn’t part of the Spurs squad that faced Burnley on Saturday and hasn’t featured for the north London side since their 2-0 win at Leicester earlier this month.

Tottenham have since confirmed that Dier was diagnosed with appendicitis and that he will return to training in January.

“Eric Dier has undergone surgery to remove his appendix,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“The England international midfielder was diagnosed with appendicitis after contacting our medical staff due to acute Abdominal pain. He received immediate treatment to assess and then remove the appendix.

“He will now undergo a period of recovery before commencing rehabilitation and it is expected he will return to training with the squad in January.

“Along with our Medical staff, we wish to thank the NHS for their excellent treatment of Eric.”

Dier has started 13 league games for Tottenham this season, scoring twice and returning a WhoScored rating of 6.86 in the process.
