Shock Premier League outfit hoping to beat Arsenal to Zaha
Having had an offer in the region of £40m rejected by Crystal Palace, Arsenal run the risk of losing out on Wilfried Zaha this summer with Everton ready to usurp the Gunners’ bid, The Sun reports.
The Eagles reportedly value their star man closer to £80m, which neither club seem likely to meet, but the Toffees are hopeful of negotiating a deal.
The Merseyside outfit will soon be boosted financially by the sale of Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig, while Idrissa Gueye is also expected to leave the club once he returns from Africa Cup of Nations duty.
Zaha has also been out in Egypt this summer, scoring twice, but crashed out of the tournament at the quarter-final stage with the Ivory Coast.
The winger was believed to be keen on a move to Arsenal but Palace’s asking price has forced the London club to look elsewhere, with Brazil international Everton now looking more likely to move to the Emirates.
Should Zaha make the move to Everton he would be following in the footsteps of former teammate Yannick Bolasie, who is back at the club following loan spells at Aston Villa and Anderlecht.
The Eagles flyer reached double figures for league goals last season for the first time in his career and is keen to secure European football, which Everton are unable to offer.
