Simone Zaza’s father has revealed the Juventus striker wants to join West Ham this summer.
Slaven Bilic’s summer-long search for a new striker culminated in a club record £20m deal to sign Andre Ayew from Swansea but the West Ham boss could be forced into action once more after Ayew and Andy Carroll were both hit by long-term injuries.
Zaza, 25, was linked with a move to West Ham at the start of the summer but appeared on course to joining Wolfsburg before his move collapsed last week, and now his father, Antonio, has rekindled talk of a switch to east London.
“West Ham are a solution we’d appreciate and represent something more concrete,” he told Mediaset Premium, via London Evening Standard. “We’ll have to see what Juventus do and expect news soon.”
“We are taking London into serious consideration as his next destination. Simone still has four years on his contract and would happily remain in Turin to give his contribution.
“Juventus don’t want to sell Simone to a direct rival. Milan, Napoli and Roma would be the options, we’ll see what happens.”
Since making his switch to Juventus permanent last summer, Zaza has scored five league goals in 19 appearances, although 14 of those came as a substitute.
