Aubameyang hits out for Borussia Dortmund axe

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit out at Borussia Dortmund after being dropped from the squad for Friday’s match away to Frankfurt.

Dortmund announced on Thursday that Aubameyang had breached team rules during the international break and would therefore not be considered for selection this week.

Peter Bosz’s side did not explain why they were disciplining Aubameyang but there have been reports suggesting the Gabon international went to a nightclub in Barcelona with former team-mate Ousmane Dembele.

Other reports have intimated that the striker turned up 30 minutes late for training, which led to Bosz banning his star man from Friday’s match.

Dortmund dropped Aubameyang in the Champions League last season after he took an unsanctioned trip to Milan, but the 28-year-old insists he did nothing wrong on this occasion.

“I didn’t turn up late for training,” he told Bild. “After my trip to Milan I could understand my suspension because I ignored an announcement that time. This time I really can’t understand it.”

Aubameyang has played a direct hand in 39.3% of Dortmund’s Bundesliga goals this season (11/28) and his absence will be sorely missed, particularly as they do not have a senior back up.
