Madrid receive record shattering offer for Ronaldo

Super agent Jorge Mendes has revealed an unnamed Chinese side have offered Real Madrid a world record €300m (£257.7m) for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Chinese Super League have been hoovering up high profile names from across the world in the last month and only this week made former Juventus striker Carlos Tevez the world’s best paid player with the Argentina now set to receive a reported £615,000-a-week.

However, Tevez’s deal would be made to look tiny if interest in Ronaldo is genuine and Madrid accept, which they aren’t expected to do.

Manchester United broke the world record earlier this year when they agreed to pay Juventus £89m to re-sign Paul Pogba, but Mendes claims a Chinese side is willing to pay nearly three times that much for the four-time world player of the year.

Not only that, but Ronaldo would be set to pocket a staggering €100m (£86m) a year, or €1.9m a week (£1.6m a week).

“From China they’ve offered €300m to Real Madrid and more than €100m per year to the player [Ronaldo],” Mendes told Sky Italia, via AS. “But money is not everything; the Spanish club is his life.”

Only Lionel Messi (51), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (50) and Luis Suarez (48) have scored more club goals in 2016 than Ronaldo (42).
