West Brom urged to hand Moore the permanent role

West Brom have been urged to hand interim manager Darren Moore the full-time role by senior players in the dressing room, reports Express and Star.

The Baggies placed Moore in caretaker charge for the remainder of the season after sacking Alan Pardew at the start of the month.

West Brom looked destined for relegation when Moore took charge, languishing 10 points adrift of safety with six games remaining.

However, West Brom have cut the gap to five points with two games left following an unbeaten run of four matches under Moore.

West Brom have drawn with Liverpool and won away to Manchester United in that time and now there are calls for Moore to get the job on a full-time basis.

“I would like him to get the job to be honest,” Ben Foster said in the aftermath of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Newcastle. “He’s been absolutely top-class and all the players would say exactly the same thing.

“He’s just a real good guy and you just want to work for him and do the best you can for him.

“It’s times like those last five, 10 minutes of the game, when they are slinging all sorts of balls into the box, you’re more than happy to lay your life on the line because you know it means so much to him.”

West Brom would be seventh in the Premier League if the table started when Moore took charge, picking up more points than Tottenham and Liverpool in that time.

In fact, Moore is responsible for 40% of West Brom’s league wins this season and he has only been in charge for a month.
