Valencia sack Ayestaran

Valencia have announced they have sacked Pako Ayestaran four games into the season.

Ayestaran, who returned to Valencia as a coach to work under Gary Neville in February, was handed a two-year contract at the end of last season and being placed in interim charge following Neville’s sacking in March.

However, the 53-year-old has overseen four straight defeats this season and has left Valencia bottom of the table.

“After a meeting of the board of directors today, Valencia CF have decided to relive Pako Ayestaran of his duties. The decision was made after analysing the current sporting situation of the club and its results,” read an official statement on Valencia’s website, via Marca.
