Wolves leading pack for Italy international striker

Wolves are leading the race to sign AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone according to the Express & Star.

The 21-year-old is reportedly being made available by the Serie A outfit as they attempt to raise funds to finance a deal to sign Lazio’s Angel Correa.

Wolves have apparently lodged an offer below the Italian giants’ asking price of £22m but are optimistic of negotiating a price that suits both parties.

The youngster was pinpointed as one of the bright stars of the future in Italy and has been capped at senior international level but he has fallen down the pecking order at San Siro and is keen to secure regular first team football.

Cutrone made 34 Serie A appearances last season but only 12 of those were starts, scoring just three goals and not once in the league since the start of December. He did, however, score four times in just 329 minutes of Europa League action - a tournament in which Wolves will hope to compete next season.

He was included in Italy’s U21 squad as host nation of the European Championships but was unable to help the team reach the knockout phase.

Wolves are understandably keen to bolster their attacking ranks, with Raul Jimenez the only recognised striker in the squad.
