Chelsea will offer Hazard’s No.10 number to Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea will offer Eden Hazard’s shirt number to Callum Hudson-Odoi in a last ditch attempt to secure the teenager’s long-term future, claims The Daily Mail.

Hudson-Odoi is approaching the final 12 months of his current Chelsea deal and has so far refused to renew after growing disillusioned about a lack of playing time at the club.

The 18-year-old made his full England debut before starting a Premier League game for Chelsea this season and has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich since the turn of the year.

Bayern had several bids for Hudson-Odoi rejected in January and plan to rekindle their interest this summer despite the fact the teenager is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.

With Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery both departing Bayern this summer, the Bundesliga outfit are on the market for new wingers.

Hudson-Odoi is a top transfer target for the Bundesliga champions, though Chelsea are determined to do everything in their power to fend off Bayern's interest.

Chelsea are even willing to make Hudson-Odoi their new No.10 for next season, with current occupant, Hazard, expected to join Real Madrid.

It would be a huge show of faith by Chelsea to hand Hudson-Odoi such a prestigious number but it remains to be seen whether he will backtrack on his future intentions.

Despite some promising displays in the Europa League, it took until April before Hudson-Odoi made his full Premier League debut for Chelsea.

Hudson-Odoi started four league matches in a row before succumbing to a season-ending injury 41 minutes into Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Burnley at the end of April.

The Chelsea starlet will miss this month’s Europa League final against Arsenal as a result and his absence is a blow for the west London outfit.

Excluding substitute appearances in the Europa League this season, Hudson-Odoi is the highest WhoScored rated player in the competition (9.07).
