Manchester United monitoring RB Leipzig centre-back

Manchester United have made contact with the representatives of RB Leipzig's young centre-back Ibrahima Konate, according to French publication Le10 Sport.

United have previously been linked with a move for Konate's teammate Dayot Upamecano, but he is expected to pen a one-year contract extension in the coming days to end rumours of a summer exit.

It has seen the Premier League side turn their attention to Konate, who has been restricted to just five league outings this season due to injury.

However, that is unlikely to deter United, who are looking to bring in another centre-back in the off-season.

Upamecano was courted by the Manchester giants, but with news of his new deal doing the rounds last week, they have since turned their attention to his compatriot.

The 20-year-old was a first team regular for RB Leipzig last season, yet having featured so little this term, the Bundesliga side may be more open to his possible departure.

Konate hasn't featured in the league for the German outfit since September, but yielded a WhoScored rating of 7.10 from his five league outings.
